Grading and Additional Information Help! Simple Point System – Writing, Tests, Quizzes, Graded Assignments, Presentations, etc. Performance on homework, organization, and participation will be communicated through regular communication, report card comments, and homework grades in the gradebook. Lunch, Study Hall, After School Open Communication
Homework “Grading” When I check homework at the start of class I will be giving a score of 0-5. These grades are not included in a student’s average, but can give you and I a better picture of the completion and quality of each assignment. This is a new system, so hang with me if it seems clunky!
Tips for Home Read the same book as your child. It makes great dinner conversation. You can still read to a 7th grader! (I know I will this year) Model a love of reading. Point out good writing when you see it (or bad writing). Discuss the world around you…many times kids struggle with reading because they lack the context or background knowledge to make meaning.
