What do I want to discover? What causes tuberculosis? What can we do to prevent it? What happens to people that get TB? Will we ever find a cure for Tuberculosis?

The Story Of My Search I chose this topic because it is very interesting to me. It interest me because it is something that I have learned about in history class and that is what really got my interest. It is something that has been around for thousands of years and it has impacted us a lot as a society. The story behind it is very tragic but it is also interesting as well. That is why I chose this topic.

The Story Of My Search Continues……. I started out my search by reading books from the school library. When I was done getting information for the books I started my search online. I went to power library, then went to SIRS discover, that is where I found everything I needed and I knew it was great thing to use as well.

Continued…… After I was done with my search online, I stated my PowerPoint. In my PowerPoint I started with my first slide which is the introduction. Then I put in my six main topics in with their hyperlinks. When I was done with that I started to add my information that I found on SIRS discovery, and I put it into my PowerPoint. That is everything I did to finish my PowerPoint.

My Search Results Tuberculosis (TB) is an infection caused by slow-growing bacteria that grows best in areas of the body that have lots of blood and oxygen. This is why most people get TB in their lungs. Tuberculosis can also spread throughout your body as well. Most people who get Tuberculosis (TB) are people who have bad living conditions. Some example of these people are the homeless, or the poorer families.

My Search Results Continue…. To prevent Tuberculosis (TB) you must not stay in the same room with someone who does have it for longer periods of time. The reason for this is because TB is a airborne disease. Also younger children (such as babies) must no go around a person with Tuberculosis at all because their immune system is not fully developed and they can catch TB faster then adults can.

Continued….. People who get Tuberculosis (TB) get very sick. Some of the symptoms are weakness, fatigue, chest pains, and coughing up blood. If you don’t get this treated you can die from this. In the early 1900’s they did not have treatments for Tuberculosis. So people who got TB were put in Tuberculosis Asylums and they eventually died there. When they were in the Asylum they were put on a strict schedule from their doctors or nurses. People have said that the Tuberculosis Asylums are just like Prison.

Continued…. TB disease can almost always be cured with medicine. But the medicine must be taken as the doctor or nurse tells you. Some of the medicine that is used to treat TB is Isoniazid (INH), Rifampin, Pyrazinamide , Ethambutol, and Streptomycin. We didn’t not discover a cure for TB until the early 1940’s. Before we found a cure for Tuberculosis, people who had it, had to go through horrible treatments that the doctors thought would help. A lot of people died from the treatments that the doctors made them go through. But now that we have a cure for this horrible disease, people will never have to go through those diseases again!

My Growth As A Researcher I learned more information about Tuberculosis I know now how to make a works cited page correctly I know how to set up a PowerPoint correctly I feel more confident about my presentation
