On the Red Planet Wins Regional Emmy® The National Air and Space Museum (NASM) and the Fairfax County (VA) Public School district’s broadcast division collaborated in the production of an educational video on Mars exploration, fifth in a series called “Flight School,” aimed at middle school-age students. The Mars program content was enhanced significantly via collaboration with NASA’s Planetary Science Division E/PO Lead, Dr. Steven H. Williams, on detail assignment from NASM’s Education Division. The FCPS production team had press access to the events surrounding the launch of the Curiosity mission, and to many of the NASA managers, engineers, and scientists being interviewed for the Scientists-in-Action webcast during the launch. The program just won a 2012 Regional Emmy® in the “Informational/Instructional Program/Special” category!
