Kindergarten Our Kindergarten Program provides opportunities for children to develop and grow, to experience the creative arts, to develop receptive language (listening and reading) skills, and expressive language (speaking and writing) skills, and to construct and extend concepts in mathematics, science, social studies, health, music, and physical education.    Reach the Promise of PGCPS – 90% of students will graduate on time

Our Classroom Rules Rules will be made as individual classrooms between students and teacher. Behavior plans are a useful classroom management tool for students engaging in inappropriate classroom behavior. They serve to teach and reinforce positive behaviors and are a way of documenting the success of the intervention. Green- consistently following school rules and expectations Yellow- inconsistently follow rules and expectations Red- consistently refused to follow rules and expectations. We will use the agenda book to communicate behavior of the student each day.

Homework Procedures Students will be given homework everyday Monday-Thursday evenings through a homework calendar. Homework should take no longer than 10 minutes per night. Homework is due Friday morning at the start of class. Parents/guardians are encouraged to read nightly with their student.

Backpacks and Agenda Books Students should have a backpack Place your child’s name and their pin number in the front pocket of his or her backpack Check your child’s backpack and agenda book EVERY DAY!! Agenda books will be used to communicate students behavior daily. One of three colors will be stamped: Green, Yellow or Red

Bus Riders Will be given vests that they will wear home from school and should wear back to school the next morning to identify them appropriately as bus riders.

Expectations (Parents) Teachers ask that you please… Contact your child’s teacher anytime that you have questions or concerns Check backpacks EVERYDAY Check folders and Agenda Books EVERYDAY Find a quiet place at home for your child to complete his or her homework Read with your child every night

School Nurse Name Medications Students are not allowed to carry medications. No medication will be administered to your child without a completed Prescriber’s Medication Order Form and properly labeled medication container. When medication is brought or sent to school please do the following: Notify the school staff prior to the medication being brought or sent to school A completed PMOF must accompany the medication and a new PMOF must be completed at the beginning of each school year.

Volunteers/Fingerprinting Cost of Commercial Background Check $7.00 Cost of Online Commercial Background Check $7.26 Cost of Fingerprint Background Check $59.32 All parents that wish to volunteer in the classrooms on a regular basis my have a background check. Parents that wish to attend field trips must have a background check.
