Saint Josephs N.S. Killenummery Our Health Promoting Schools Project 2014-2016

Ann Lawlors talk Ann Lawlor gave us a talk about the Health Promoting Schools (HPS) programme. We were doing a lot of work in this area already but we picked a few new areas to work on. We elected a HPS committee & we worked on this programme over the past 2 years.

Mary Rooneys talk Mary Rooney came to us and talked about our mental health. She gave us cardboard to make a box.We called it a happy box and we decorated it. She also gave us a sheet with a flower on it and we had to write what we would do when we were bored. She talked about the importance of being happy.

Health promoting schools committee We picked two children from each class 2nd-6th to be on our committee .We also have 2 parents Christine & Aisling & our teacher Mrs.Rooney.

The three areas we worked on are Our Action plan The three areas we worked on are A: Promoting safety B: Promoting mental/emotional health – Anti bullying C: Promoting physical activity
