38 Pauris. Pauris - Literally there is no difference between a shabad and a pauri. In Punjabi language a pauri means a ladder. A Spiritual Ladder The practical difference is that a pauri carries its idea further.

The main themes of Japji Sahib   How the distance between God and Man can be eliminated How one goes from Kurhiar to Sachiar  What is 'Hukam' The law of nature

BASIC SIKH BELIEVES BASIC QUALITIES OF GOD Mool Mantar BASIC SIKH BELIEVES BASIC QUALITIES OF GOD

ੴ Ek: one, only one, not different just for the Sikhs but only one for all. ONkaar: infinite, all pervading God. Continues never ending. In all bodies and all over His Hukam --laws of nature continuously working.

Sat: always true, one that exists continuously, immortal, eternal. Naam: God’s name, praise, power. Those who are in oneness with God are always attached to the eternal truth ( laws of nature )

Kartaa: doer of all, creator. Purakh: formless, all pervading. Those in oneness with God have acquired divine qualities and all those are reflected in their deeds.

Nirbha-o: Nir means without and Bhao means fear, without fear, not afraid of anyone or anything, does not experience the emotion of fear. Those in oneness of God are not afraid. They always stand for truth.

Nirvair: Nir means without and vair means enmity, without enmity, holds no animosity towards anyone, does not experience the emotion of hate. God is love. He does not discriminate against anyone. His blessings are befalling upon all the same, as sun is giving its light to all. Some are not in tune with the Lord to receive them. Those in oneness with God don’t keep animosity. They treat everyone with equality.

Akaal: timeless, time has no influence on Him, time does not make him older or different in anyway like we do. He stays the same forever Moorat: image, form. Although God does not have any particular physical form, but the word is used to describe the virtues of God, that such is His form. . One who is in oneness with God, does not get swayed with maya and death of consciousness does not happen.

Ajoonee: beyond birth and death cycle Ajoonee: beyond birth and death cycle. One who does not incarnate or take birth at all. Those with one of God do not go into cycles of death and birth of consciousness.

SaibhaNg: emergence from self, no one created Him SaibhaNg: emergence from self, no one created Him. Lord does not have mother or father. He is self sustained, does not depend upon anyone or anything.

Gur: The technique or method or the way Parsaad: blessing, offering, grace. No one can unite with God on their own. It is only through the Guru we learn Gur- the technique and can be one with Him. However, it is only on those Lord Himself is pleased with.
