The Ceremony Of Bliss Four hymns from the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Ang 773 are read to solemnise the Anand Kaaraj (Ceremony of Bliss). In these hymns, Guru Raam Daas Sahib, the 4th Sikh Guru, has described the stages / vows to attain UNION (Marriage) of the individual soul with the Eternal Soul (GOD). The very same principles apply to relationship between the couple & all human being to develop trustworthy & Loving relationship
The essence of the four hymns may be summed as follows: Devotion of the Almighty God Eradicate EGO thro’ Divine Wisdom recieved from Satguru (by being conscious of God’s supremacy & command) Longing (Bairaag) to experience the Lord Intuitive & unconditional love (Sehaj) for Vaheguru.
During the marriage ceremony, the Granthi recites the first Laav (vow). Musicians (Raagis) then sing the same verse, while the bride and the groom walk clockwise around the Guru Granth Sahib Ji. When the musicians (Raagis) finish singing the verse, the bride and the groom bow and sit down. -This above protocol is repeated for each of the four marriage verses.--
