One Minute Write Using your white board, write down everything that you can remember about a coordinate plane.

Wednesday, June 7th, 2017 What are we learning today? You need the following on your desk: Pencil Hands on Standards book X-Y Coordinate Pegboard Sheet of paper How to graph in all four quadrants and determine distances on the coordinate plane. MGSE7.6b, 6c, 8

Hands on Standards (page 30) www.hand2mind/hosstudent Janet is going to Alison’s house after school. After that, they are going to the movie theater. Alison uses a grip to make a map for Janet. She uses the following information: The school is located at the origin Each unit is one block East of the school are positive x-coordinates North of the school are positive y-coordinates West of the school are negative x-coordinates South of the school are negative y-coordinates

On your coordinate plane, create all 4 quadrants with your axes. Locate the school at (o,0) and place a peg. Write the location on your paper.

Alison’s house is at (4, -3) plot this point then write the location on your paper; what quadrant is her house in? The movie theater is at (-3,6) Plot this point then write the location on your paper; what quadrant is this in?. Janet’s house is located at (2,7) Plot the point then write this location on your paper; what quadrant is her house in?.

Amusement Park Task Read through the activity. What math do you see that is covered? What science connections can you make?
