Asexual Reproduction
Asexual Reproduction Is the creation of offspring from a single parent and does not involve the joining of gametes(egg and sperm) Offspring that result are identical to each other and identical to the parent Most prokaryote reproduce through binary fission-which is the asexual reproduction of a single celled organism into two equal parts
Asexual Reproduction Especially common in simpler plants and animals Maybe an advantage or disadvantage to organisms in changing environments Occurs in both unicellular and multicellular organisms
Asexual Reproduction Can take several forms among eukaryotes including budding, fragmentation and vegetative reproduction Hydra & yeast reproduce through budding Flatworms & sea stars through fragmentation Strawberries and potatoes through vegetative reproduction-runners
Some organisms like the sea anemone can reproduce both sexually and asexually.
