Reverse Engineering The Toaster By Brandon Isham And Jasmine Jackson

Disassembly We started by unscrewing the housing The screws where really tight and didn’t come out easily.

With Mrs. Foley’s Help we got the screws out With Mrs. Foley’s Help we got the screws out. We then had to cut some wires and take off the lever as it was connected to the inside and went out.

The “Split” got our own sides to work on. Once the wires were cut, we each The “Split”

Brandon’s Side I had to disassemble the front panel of the toaster. This involved taking out multiple screws.

Brandon’s Side The front panel was very easy to take off and I got done in time to help with the complicated other half.

While Brandon was working on the shell of the toaster I got to work on taking apart the insides. Jasmine’s Side

It was very difficult to take off the lever mechanism so we could begin working on the heating unit. Jasmine’s Side

When we both finished our little separate jobs we came back to work together on disassembling the heating element. Brandon also cut his finger tearing off a piece of metal at this point.

We then took off two heating sheets so that we could take off the two metal outer pieces to get to the grill parts and third heating sheet.

These are the grills and heating sheet.

After we disassembled the main heating element we took apart some minor little trinkets that we had set aside earlier.

We’re Done! When we finally finished we sorted all the parts into their respective places and documented our success with this picture.

How do the various parts interact?

What are the good and bad features of the product? Some of the best features of this product is that it toasts perfectly and that people love the color! But some of the bad reviews on this toaster say that the color is to bright, or their beard won’t fit in its slots. Also the toaster may not toast the bread at all. What are the good and bad features of the product?

What caused your product to succeed or fail? This product succeeded in many ways to me. From what it seems this toaster is great for everyday use, and its very appealing to the eye. But in ways this product failed is that on the front panel, most of the controls and buttons have rubbed off so, your unable to set the toaster if you don’t know the choices. What caused your product to succeed or fail?

Are the materials used appropriate? I believe that all the materials that have been used on this product are absolutely appropriate. Every thing goes together and the materials Oster used, are easy to clean, so it all works. Are the materials used appropriate?

What was the manufacturing process was used?

What is the estimated cost of the product?
