Safety Day 2017 February 7th, 2017 Just one day? March 7th, 2017

Topics for today 1. CAP Fitness Program 2. Parting Thoughts

First Question: Which fitness activity has the greatest potential to cause injury (no matter how minor the injury)? Any Risk Control Measures?  _________________________________________ Second Question: Which fitness activity has the potential to cause the most severe injury?

Step 6. Supervise and review Mr. Cadet Commander … The last step in RM is: Step 6. Supervise and review Watch and see if your “risk controls” were effective. You might consider delegating this task to someone (or to a committee). Keep watching and evaluating!

Parting Thoughts

I have enjoyed the two years as your Safety Officer. You have given me much more than I have given you. Thank you.

The Foot Stompers The nuggets … in no particular order … from two years of rambling presentations.

Hey Kennedy, Fitness is important to you, how come YOU don’t look like this?

Think about my current situation in life. I have everything that I wanted as a teenager: I don't have to go to school or work. I get an allowance every month. I have my own pad. I don't have a curfew. I have a driver's license and my own car. I have ID that gets me into bars and the whisky store. I don't have acne. Life is great … but I wish I was in better physical condition. As I get even older, I AM GOING TO NEED IT!

Learn From My Mistakes … The two secrets to a long and happy life: Proper Diet Ample Exercise Make both a habit … this year. These habits established early in life will keep you in good health and vitality, throughout your entire life.

Don’t ever get overweight … EVER! Men … Size 36 pants Women … Size 32 When you notice something that is fixing to hurt you … DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!

The world is full of hazards. Pay attention. Figure out what (or who) can hurt you … Do something about it.

ALWAYS have an escape plan. No matter where you are food court movie theatre concert airliner When disaster strikes … While everyone else is trying to figure out where to go … you are already gone.

If confronted with an active shooter RUN Hide Fight Back

Life is too short to do without pie, ice cream, and tacos. Just remember … IN MODERATION

Parting Thoughts … Flight Safety

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: On February 1, 2016, a Civil Air Patrol Cessna 182T, N784CP, was destroyed by a collision with trees, terrain and a post-crash fire following a missed approach to the Mobile Regional Airport (MOB), Mobile, Alabama. The airline transport pilot and one passenger sustained fatal injuries. No updates available from the NTSB.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS Page 2: On May 16, 2016, about 0835 central daylight time, a Beech A36TC, N60RW, was destroyed when it impacted terrain in Tupelo, Mississippi. The airline transport pilot and three passengers sustained fatal injuries. No updates available from the NTSB.

Train beyond the minimums. Currency and proficiency are two different things. In an emergency, you can’t “fly safe” if you aren’t competent and proficient in emergency ops. On that one fateful flight, when things are going very bad, very quickly … currency isn’t going to save your life. “Meeting Standards” won’t be good enough. Train beyond the minimums.

Summary

Always be keenly aware of your surroundings (people and things). Always be keenly aware of your self, and be keenly aware of your ability (or lack of ability). Live a proactive life.

Live long … and prosper.

Any questions?

Did you sign the roster?

Once again, Thank You. Hasta luego!
