CD 22 Requirements Prerequisite courses: CD 1, 2,7, and 11. Site for practicum hours (must be ready to begin at Practicum site on the week of September 12th and finish 90 hours by December 2nd). Immunization Records must be updated

All California Early Childhood Educators: Beginning September 1, 2016, new legislation (SB 792) has been implemented in California requiring all staff working in a child care facility or family day home to be immunized and show proof for: Influenza, Pertussis (T-Dap/D-Dap),and  Measles (MMR).  WLAC Child Care Center and other centers will need you to submit proof of these immunizations with your packet, if you wish to become an early childhood educator you will need these immunizations.

Influenza Annual Requirement: Flu viruses change each year, which is why an annual vaccine is required.  You will need to show that you have been vaccinated between August 1 and December 1 of each year. Opting out: You may decline to receive the influenza vaccine Employees must have ONE of the following records: ·         A copy of an immunization record for influenza dated between August 1 and December 1 of each year ·         A statement from your physician that there is a medical reason not to vaccinate ·         A signed & dated statement from you stating that you have declined to be vaccinated against the flu Pertussis (Whooping Cough) ·         A copy of an immunization record of pertussis (T-Dap/D-Dap) ·         A statement from your physician that there is a medical reason not to vaccinate ·         A statement from your physician that you are already immune to pertussis

Measles Employees must have ONE of the following records: ·         A copy of an immunization record of measles (MMR) ·         A statement from your physician that there is a medical reason not to vaccinate ·         A statement from your physician that you are already immune to measles ·         Proof that the employee was born before 1957 (according to the Advisory Council on Immunization Practices, “adults born before 1957 are generally considered immune to measles and mumps.”) Cost: All the vaccines required in SB 792 are covered at no cost by insurance plans under the Affordable Care Act.  If you have an insurance plan other than those under the ACA, you can contact your primary care physician to receive the vaccine with no co- pay.

Credential vs. Permits Credentials Must have earned a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science from an accredited university or private college. You can teach in accordance to your Credential (e.g.) Multiple Subject Professional Clear Credentials can only teach in preschool to 6th grade in a self-contained classroom. Single Subject Professional Clear Credential allows a teacher to teach in a specific subject such as English, Math, Science, History, etc in grades 6th to high school. Principals must earn an Administrative Credential (Tier 1 & Tier 2) to be able to supervise an elementary school, high school or college level campus and adults. Permits Must have the matrix qualifications to teach or operate only a child care center/early education center/ or day care center You can only practice in accordance to your Permit (e.g.) Assistant Teacher can only assist an Associate Teacher/Teacher and cannot be left alone with children Associate Teacher/Teacher can be with a children and supervise TAs. Master Teacher can be with children and serve as a coordinator of curriculum and staff development and supervise staff. Site Supervisor can supervise the functionality of one site only and can be with children and serve as a coordinator of curriculum and staff development and supervise staff. Program Director can supervise several sites can be with children and serve as a coordinator of curriculum and staff development and supervise staff.

Live Scan We provide the live scan form and the Personal and Professional Fitness Explanation form can be found online on the California Teacher Credential website www.ctc.ca.gov that is part of the Permit Application process. The Live Scan that is required for licensing for employment is not the same form that is required by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
