First things first: be clear on what you want to achieve It is vital that the aim of your campaign is clear as this will influence what strategies you prioritise. 3 pronged approach: community awareness, media exposure, political pressure

Building an email database Why? How? The importance of collaboration across groups and networks

Who are the key decision-makers?

Petitions Aim? Online or hard copy? The importance of promotion Is it effective? What resources are required? Yes but what next?

Letters to pollies Aim? Online or hard copy? The importance of promotion Is it effective? What resources are required? What about phone calls?

Phone trees Aim? Is it effective? What resources are required? When to use?

Street stalls and letterboxing Aim? Is it effective? What resources are required? When to use?

Letters to media Aim? Is it effective? What resources are required? When to use?

Factors to consider when deciding on strategies Aim of campaign- be clear Resources available (people, time, money) What strategy will have biggest impact for smallest investment? (prioritise) Review your plan regularly
