Tank Sketch

Tank Enrichment: Tree’s, Vines, Truck, Rocks, Vegetation. Will have Trees, and holes in the rock side for the red-tailed cat fish to hide in, it can also hide in truck.

Fish Species Arapaima: The largest freshwater fish in the world. Can reach lengths of 10 Ft. and up to 400 pounds. They also breathe air and can stay under water for 10-20 minutes. The Arapaima also has a bone tongue. Red-Tailed Cat Fish: They can grow up to 3 to 5 Ft. They also prefer large caves to hide out in. They are good community fish, mostly with fish there own size. Yellow-Spotted Amazon River Turtle: Their shell is well adapted to their natural surroundings. It’s also flat which helps them glide through the water. It’s also one of the largest South American River turtles. Smooth-Fronted Caiman: It’s the second smallest species of the Alligatoridae family. It reaches up to 2.3 meters in length.

How we Affect the Amazon Every year gigantic areas of the Amazon are cut down or burned for farming land. Large scale destruction and deforestation by big corporations has a lasting effect in permanently reducing the size of the Amazon rain forest. At the current rate, in two decades the Amazon Rainforest will be reduced by 40%.

How the Amazon Affects us The atmosphere of the planet would change dramatically if the Amazon was destroyed, because the massive levels of carbon dioxide released would cause the planets temperature to skyrocket. It takes in so much carbon dioxide that it is currently the largest factor preventing global warming. The Amazon’s daily freshwater discharge into the Atlantic is enough to supply New York City’s freshwater needs for nine years.
