Food Groups Grains- Bread, Rice, Cereal, Pasta Vegetables- Fruits- Protein- Meat, Fish, Poultry, Dry Beans, Nuts, Eggs Dairy- Milk, Cheese, Yogurt Fats, Oils, Sweets,-

Tips to help you eat healthy! Make at least half your grains Whole Grains (Grains are divided into 2 subgroups, whole grains and refined grains. Eat at least 3 ounces of whole-grain cereals, breads, crackers, rice or pasta every day.) Vary your veggies (Vary your vegetables in color. Don’t ruin vegetables by adding extras to make them unhealthy such as too much dressing on salad, or cheese on broccoli.   Focus on fruit (Vary fruit choices. Fruits differ in nutrient content.) Get your calcium rich foods  Go lean with protein (Choose lean meats and poultry. Try and choose seafood as main protein at least twice a week.) Find your balance between food and physical activity (Make physical activity a regular part of the day. Find ways to increase your level of physical activity.)  Keep food safe to eat (Keep your hands clean when working with food. Keep your kitchen clean as well. Make sure to wash foods that may need it. Cook your foods to the proper temperature. Refrigerate promptly!
