Eco Club Good morning everyone, we are this year’s Eco Club. We are looking forward to another busy year and would like to start with this photo… Is this ok? Let’s look at how we have done over the years. (The school is shown a graph of our Litter Survey Results for the past 9 years). Every year the Eco Club do a Litter Survey where we pick up rubbish and take a note of what kind it is. Red is for things that can’t be recycled and green is for things that can. The numbers on the graph are getting higher so we need to do something about this, there is too much litter lying around. We care about our school grounds and we want all of you to care too!

Eco Club Lets talk about LAW Duty. You might have seen someone wearing fluorescent jackets around the school – what does L.A.W mean? LAW means Litter Awareness Worker. When you are on LAW Duty, you should eat your play piece first and then do your duty. Is one glove enough? Yes, it is. You should only need one hand to pick up a small piece of rubbish. The Eco Club showed the school a litter picker. These are only to be used to pick up litter so please be careful with them. It is a very clever tool! There are 5 LAW zones. All Weather Pitch Free running/quiet area Netball court/ball court and grassy areas Adventure playground/main playground Front of school Two officers work in each zone except zone 5 with the janitor.

Eco Club Whose job is it to keep our playground clean? All of US. It is not the job of the LAW Duty children to clean the playground, they are there to make you aware so you do it yourself. Let’s make it all better together. Eco Club will meet this Friday at 9.15 and 6E are on LAW Duty. Thank you for listening.

Here is our new Eco Club with their LAW jackets.
