Rising Senior Enrollment 2017-2018 School Year
Core Subjects At Booker T. Washington, seniors must select four core subjects in ENGLISH, MATH, SCIENCE and SOCIAL STUDIES even if you have met the minimum graduation requirements in these areas.

Science Be sure you have the right credits to graduate Must have a credit of biology, a physical science (Chemistry, Physics, or Forensic Sci), and one additional core science beyond those two. 1/2 units of different science classes cannot be combined to count as a full credit. Seniors may choose AP, IB or other core science classes (Anatomy/Physiology, Astronomy/Zoology, AP Environmental, Sports Exercise Health IBSL) Check your AP Potential letter!!!!
Check your AP Potential Letter! Social Studies Social Studies Graduation requirements changed beginning with the class of 2017. World History is no longer a required course; however, a minimum of 3.0 “core” credits are still required. BTW students should take a SS course every year, core &/or elective. Must have .5 US Gov’t, .5 Oklahoma History, 1.0 US History, + 1.0 additional SS core to graduate Check your AP Potential Letter!
Social Studies, cont’d Social Studies core class selections include: African American Studies Economics/Macro Economics AP Economics IBSL History Of the Americas IBHL History Of Europe IBHL History of SE Asia & Oceania IBHL Human Geography AP (new course offering) World History AP World History IBSL World History Survey All other Social Studies offerings count as elective credit.
World Language If you have taken 3 years of same language, you can enroll in a new language including Italian I. You can continue to the fourth year of your current language. Or you can choose other electives.
Fine Arts and General Electives Need 1.0 Fine Art credit to graduate. Check your AP Potential Letter! You may take additional fine arts as electives. Need 4.0 elective credits to graduate. You pre-enroll for 7 classes even if you plan to go to attend TTC or Concurrent Enrollment. Your counselor will drop classes from your schedule when your plans are confirmed.
General Electives… Electives can be any type of credit, including extra courses above the required minimum in fine arts, math, science, world language, etc. Classes at Tulsa Tech count as elective credit except for some engineering classes & embedded credits. If you have been accepted to Tulsa Tech, meet with your counselor to be sure your graduation requirements will be met your senior year. TTC programs are AM only at BTW. Concurrent Enrollment at Tulsa Community College: must have 19 ACT or 900 SAT and choose from list of pre-approved classes. You must be on track to graduate to be approved for Tulsa Tech or Concurrent Enrollment.
Enrollment Information Your completed enrollment packet must be in your possession when you come to the computer lab to enroll online . You will not be allowed to enroll online without it. YOU MUST SELECT ALTERNATES!!!!! Parent signature must be on your enrollment form and the AP/IB contract (if you are requesting any AP or IB courses.) Review your AP Potential Letter! Schedule changes will not be made in the fall if you get the classes you request at pre-enrollment. Classes are year long. CHOOSE WISELY!
In Addition This summer begin your college search online and visit campuses whenever possible. Call the admissions office at any college to arrange to visit and get a tour. Start writing your college essays. Common App essay topics for 2017-18 are available on commonapp.org Open up an Okcollegestart.org account and write your resume, check for scholarships, and “shop” for schools! Narrow down your college choices (4-6). Make sure you qualify for the colleges you are considering applying to. Come back to school as a senior ready to apply! If you are registered for OK Promise, remember it is a SCHOLARSHIP. You must graduate with at least a 2.5 GPA.
