Existentialism a chiefly 20th century philosophical movement embracing diverse doctrines but centering on analysis of individual existence in an unfathomable universe and the plight of the individual who must assume ultimate responsibility for acts of free will without any certain knowledge of what is right or wrong or good or bad

Project Requirements Read your assigned text. Make annotations. Discuss it with your fellow group members who are reading the same text. Complete a Major Works Data Sheet on your assigned text. Each group member may have the same “stuff” on the Major Works Data Sheet, but each group member should have his/her own.

Presentation Requirements Spend one class period teaching the class about existentialism in literature and how your work does (or does not?) demonstrate it. In that class period, you must NOT be lecturing/talking/presenting all the time. Challenge your fellow students with a passage from your work. Make copies of a selected passage. Ask questions and lead a discussion in which your peers interact with a selected portion of your text, armed with context from you about both your assigned text and its literary time period.
