Where did the Scots move to? By the end of this section you should be able to: Describe the impact of the Scots in England Describe the impact of the Scots around the world Explain the opportunities for Scots abroad Destination anywhere? Where did the Scots move to?

England Between 1830 – 1930s around 750,000 Scots migrated to England Invested capital England Workers in English – based industries – north and midlands, eg. Textile, chemical, shipping, coal mining Graduates – eg. doctors

Poster activity in groups: What criteria would you have? USA – chapter 11; Canada – chapter 11 Australia and New Zealand – chapter 12 India – chapter 13 INDIVIDUAL SCOTS – chapter 10 – 2 per group! EXPERIENCE AND IMPACT OF SCOTS!!!

Presentation of your poster: criteria You need to present the information in your poster clearly to the rest of the class (NOT reading from the poster but looking at the class) The content of the poster MUST provide enough detailed, accurate, relevant information to enable the rest of the class to learn everything they need about your area of the world It must include a) the experiences the Scots had in work and other aspects of their lives b) the impact they had in your area – with regard to work, the economy, society and politics You must clearly describe the lives and impact of two individual Scots in your area You must make a quiz for the rest of the class that covers the key points and get them to do it ( in teams). No fewer than 10 questions per quiz.

BUT PRIZES FOR ALL IN BEST GROUP!!!!
