What do all of these examples have in common? How do they relate to Thoreau’s Civil Disobedience? Which event made you have the strongest reaction, and why? Do you think it is important to stand up to the government when it does something you believe is morally wrong or unfair? Why or why not? How might our world be different if people never took a stand to fight for what they believe in? What would you fight for? Would you be on the side of any of the protesters we looked at today? What do you think acts of civil disobedience will look like in the future? Do you agree with MLK Jr. and Thoreau or not? Why?
