Sydney: Technical Communication in a Global Context

Program Requirements Junior classification as of Fall semester Completion of English 250 as of Fall 2017 semester 2.8 cumulative GPA (lower GPAs will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis) Open to all majors

ISU Portion Overview Course: English 314 (3 credits) Program meets International Perspectives requirement English 314 will meet Mondays and Wednesdays in the Fall from 2:10-3:00 Students will complete the course in Sydney over Winter Break (December 26th-January 6th)

Sydney Portion Overview Single-occupancy rooms on the University of New South Wales campus Close to several public transportation options Free time to explore Planned cultural excursions as a group Visits to two corporations to see technical communication first hand Continued classroom instruction on the University of New South Wales campus

English 314- Learning Objectives Apply rhetorical principles to technical communication.​ Implement principles of effective document design and the display of quantitative data.​ Understand the influences of organizational settings in the composition of technical and professional documents.​ Understand the conventions of your discipline and be aware of the variety of conventions across disciplines.​ Participate in the collaborative planning and executing of a project.​ Understand how ethical issues influence research and application in your discipline.​ Have fun.​
