Typical Day 8.50am Arrive at school 8.55am Register 9.00am Phonics 9.20am Maths 10.00am Worship 10.15am Playtime 10.30am Maths Challenge 10.50pm English 11.40pm Guided Reading 12pm Lunch time 1:10pm Afternoon session 1 and 2 inc short break 3:10 Hometime

Morning arrival In Year 1 children come into the classroom on their own. This is because of space and to get them ready to start the register as quick as we can. I will always be available to talk to you outside each morning and welcome the children. If you have any worries or concerns please talk to me- no matter how small, I am here to help!

Class Routines Changing reading books: Bug Club books- will be changed weekly (our aim is Fridays). Online books will be released the same day. Other books- parents/carers can still continue to change these when they feel appropriate.

Class routines P.E. is on a Wednesday afternoon and Thursday afternoon- inside and outside kit needs to be available both days. (Outdoor is weather permitting) Homework - will go out on a Friday to be completed by the following Thursday.

Class routines Show and tell Please send any extra work they have done at home i.e. writing or number work. If they have been to visit somewhere and have something to show or just want to talk about that. Please no toys – there should be more of a meaning to what they have brought in. This will be held on Friday afternoons

School Uniform For Girls:Grey skirt/pinafore dress/smart school trousers Gold or bottle green polo shirt or white blouse Bottle green jumper or cardigan Summer - Green or yellow check/stripe dress For Boys:Grey (not black) smart school trousers (or shorts in summer) Gold or bottle green polo shirt or White shirt Bottle green jumper or cardigan

Shoes! Outdoor shoes Indoor shoes Children need to wear appropriate outdoor footwear which is dark coloured, preferably black. Indoor shoes On very wet days children will be asked to change into indoor shoes- pumps. Please ensure your child has pumps available on wet days. Children can check the sign in the window if they are unsure when to wear indoor shoes.

School Uniform P.E. and GAMES KIT Black PE Shorts Plain round necked t-Shirt (in team colour) Change of socks Trainers for outdoor activity (on days required) – will wear black pumps for indoor activity Jogging bottoms, sweatshirt/waterproof coat (for outdoor PE) Teams and colours: LION - Red TIGER - Blue PANTHER - Yellow JAGUAR – Green Pupils must remove jewellery for PE lessons. Any children who cannot remove their earrings should cover them with medical tape (on sale in school 50p per roll of Micropore)

School Uniform IMPORTANT: IDENTIFICATION OF CLOTHING AND PROPERTY Please mark all items of clothing, footwear and other property brought to school with the child's name. Lost property boxes are located in KS1 and KS2 cloakrooms.

Homework Weekly spellings linked to Phonics Reading Maths every week Additional homework will be given as and when appropriate (projects) Homework given out Friday to be returned no later than Thursdays in order for it to be marked

Discipline Traffic light system: Green – good behaviour Amber – verbal warning Red – spend 5 minutes in another classroom, reflecting on their behaviour.

Rewards We praise and reward children for good behaviour in a variety of ways: teachers congratulate children; pupils receive stickers or stamps to acknowledge good behaviour; each week we nominate 1 child from each class to receive an achievement award and 1 child to receive an ethos award each week we nominate 1 child from each class to receive a lunchtime award Children who are on the golden star will get a star of the day sticker There is a whole class reward chart where they earn bones and will receive a treat once the chart is filled.

General Information Friday Worship 9.05am – please join us Church services – You are welcome to join us for ANY Church services (including Y6 leavers’ service). PTA – You are all automatically members of the PTA, please join us for meetings or to help at any fundraising events.

Phonics [ Year 1 complete a Phonics screening test in June. They will have to read real and nonsense words and the test is completed on a one to one.
