At Robert Blake we value every person in our school community and we: Aspire to do our very best and have high expectations of ourselves. Achieve success and overcome challenges. Celebrate our achievements within and beyond our school community. Back To Options

Very much like Primary School, we have house teams that we compete against. Each student and member of staff in the school belongs to one of the four houses: Blackdown, Mendip, Polden or Quantock. The house system is designed to help the students with responsibility and leadership, team work and team building, team identity and competitiveness. House Teams Students can gain house points by: Having good attendance Earning a merit By making good progress in their learning Gaining commendations Having their planners signed and recording homework accurately Taking part in sporting events Taking part in house events Back To Options

Level Consequence Example Behaviours C1 C2 C3 C4 C5 1st warning. Poor engagement, disturbing, refusal. C2 2nd warning. Repetition of C1. C3 Yellow slip, break/lunch detention, phone call home. Rudeness, repetition of C2. C4 Progress Leaders detention. Repetition of C3, verbal abuse. C5 After school detention, letter home, exclusion. Repetition of C4, aggression.

And also if a teacher isn’t happy with your behaviour, he/she will put you on a report. A report is carried to every lesson and the teacher is to rate your behaviour out of 5. If your Tutor isn’t happy with your behaviour, he/she will put you on a Green Report. If your Progress Leader isn’t happy with your behaviour, he/she will put you on an Orange Report. And if your SLT Link isn’t happy with your behaviour, he/she will put you on a Red Report. Being on report or getting Yellow Slips is not a good thing. You have to take your report home every day so your parents can see your behaviour and if you frequently are getting into trouble, you will miss out on lots of activities that the school has planned for you. You will also miss out on break and lunch times because you will have so many detentions to go to. Back To Options

Our ‘High 5’ is basically what is expected of us every day at school. To Be Respectful To Be Resourceful To Be Resilient To Be Reciprocal To Be Reflective Respectful - we always show respect to all the members of the school community and the way we behave helps us all to learn better. Resourceful – we always have the right equipment in school and wear our uniform correctly. We know who to ask for help and where to go to get it. Resilient – we always try our hardest and learn to the best of our ability, even when it gets tough. Reciprocal – we are always in the right place at the right time doing the right thing. We work well individually and as part of a team and show great learning behaviour. Reflective – we consider the effects of our actions on others. We listen to feedback and use it to produce work that is our very best. Back To Options

At Robert Blake we reward good behaviour with Merits. If you get: 50 Merits: You get a Bronze Merit Badge 150 Merits: You get a Silver Merit Badge 300 Merits: You get a Gold Merit Badge 500 Merits: You get a Platinum Merit Badge Back To Options

Learner Of The Fortnight Merits Merits are awarded to recognise aspiration, achievement and celebrate progress for all students in all aspects of school life. Learner Of The Fortnight Each teacher nominates an outstanding learner from their subject every fortnight and that student and that student receives a certificate and a positive phone call home. There is one person chosen from each subject. Each tutor nominates an outstanding student from their tutor group every fortnight. The best in the year group is decided by the progress leader and the winner receives a certificate and a positive phone call home. There is one person from each year group chosen. Student Of The Fortnight. Achiever Award The aim of the achiever award is to recognise and celebrate student achievement. Over an academic year, students have 3 stages to pass and for each one they receive a badge, Commended, Highly Commended or Distinction. Student Leadership Team The Student Senior Leadership Team consists of the most outstanding students. The SSLT represents Robert Blake in all they do and these students are the ones that the staff best feel reflect the ‘Aspire, Achieve, Celebrate’ ethos. Back To Options

Bullying is not very common in our school but if someone is getting bullied then there are loads of places where you can go. In the ILC (Independent Learning Centre) there is a locked box where you can post your problems into. On the school website there is another place where you can type up your problem. At Student Services you can tell someone and they will help sort the problem. Every adult in the school has been qualified to look after you so you can tell any adult and they will do there best to sort the problem. The Prefects, year 11’s with black and white striped ties, can also solve your problems too. Back To Options
