MINERAL RESOURCES OF UZBEKISTAN STATE COMMITTEE OF THE REPUBLIC OF UZBEKISTAN ON GEOLOGY AND MINERAL RESOURCES (GOSCOMGEOLOGY) MINERAL RESOURCES OF UZBEKISTAN AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR PROJECT DEVELOPMENT 2016

Goscomgeology Regulative body for geological surveys and subsoil use STATE COMMITTEE OF THE REPUBLIC OF UZBEKISTAN ON GEOLOGY AND MINERAL RESOURCES Goscomgeology Regulative body for geological surveys and subsoil use Exploration for hydromineral resources, non-metals, ferrous, rare and rare earth elements and others Provision of comprehensive and high-quality geological information data base of minerals

STATE COMMITTEE OF THE REPUBLIC OF UZBEKISTAN ON GEOLOGY AND MINERAL RESOURCES Total value of mineral resources – 7,9 trillion USD

STATE COMMITTEE OF THE REPUBLIC OF UZBEKISTAN ON GEOLOGY AND MINERAL RESOURCES Uzbekistan ranks among the top 10 countries in the world based on resources of important minerals such as gold, uranium, gas, copper, potash, phosphates and other. Uzbekistan is one of the leading producers of gold, uranium and gas.

for discovery of new types of uranium mineralization STATE COMMITTEE OF THE REPUBLIC OF UZBEKISTAN ON GEOLOGY AND MINERAL RESOURCES Promising locations for discovery of new types of uranium mineralization in Uzbekistan 1. Unconformity type in fundamental rocks 2. Volcano-plutonic type 3. Epigenetic type. Areal and linear crusts 4. Barrier zone at the boundary of basement and mantle type 5. Karst-brecciated tubes and deposits type 6. Near-surface (bony-detrital) type 7. Placer deposit 8. Oil shales

Prospective zones for Rare Metals STATE COMMITTEE OF THE REPUBLIC OF UZBEKISTAN ON GEOLOGY AND MINERAL RESOURCES Prospective zones for Rare Metals About 40 rare-metal (niobium, tantalum, beryllium, lithium, rubidium, caesium) objects have been identified in the Main Tien-Shan rare-metal belt.

Ongoing Cooperation with British organizations Scientific researches with NHM In June 2016 the delegation of the British Natural History Museum (NHM) visited Uzbekistan to discuss the problem of "Geologic structure and evolution of the Western Tien Shan" in the form of workshops and field trips. It was conducted a field trip with a visit to the representative outcrops in the mountains Ziaetdin, Tamdytau and Northern Nurata. As a first step of cooperation the British side proposed to finance the five definitions geochronology uranium-lead dating (SHRIMP) on samples taken during the tour.

Ongoing Cooperation with British organizations Copper In 2013 together with British-Australian company Rio Tinto there started project on geological exploration works at Gava area in Namangan region potential for the discovery of copper and accompanying metals. Since 2013, there performed geophysical, geochemical researches with modern technologies, equipment and high-precision exploration methods. In 2014, according to the perspectives of the area, there performed drilling works for further assessment of opportunities. But due to unfavorable market conditions the price of minerals, including copper, the project was suspended by the Rio Tinto in 2015 as well as many others around the world.

Foreign Experience Exchange There promoted works on integration and study of foreign experience in geological field, with organizations as Rio Tinto, Ministry of land and natural resources of China, Korea Mine Reclamation Corporation MIRECO, Korean Institute of Geosciences and Mineral Resources KIGAM, India Remote Sensing Institute and others: - Scientific and thematic works; - Geological maps and GIS database; - Modern technology and methodology of exploration; - Experience exchange while in-situ and laboratory researches; - Experience exchange in subsoil use management regulations; - Trainings, courses, joint conferences, seminars and exhibitions.

Opportunities for cooperation STATE COMMITTEE OF THE REPUBLIC OF UZBEKISTAN ON GEOLOGY AND MINERAL RESOURCES Opportunities for cooperation Development of Tebinbulak titanium-magnetite iron field (iron ore, titanium, vanadium and others). Approved reserves – 745 mln tn (survey continues) Pre FS under preparation Project cost – about USD 600 mln. with further extension stage by stage Development of oil-shale deposits in Uzbekistan (Aktau, Baysun) with the extraction of hydrocarbons and metals (Mo, V, Ti, Zn, Co and RE). Project cost - about USD 800 mln. Geological exploration and development of "black shale" type uranium deposits Djantuar, Rudnoe, Koscheck) with separate extraction of uranium and vanadium. Project cost – about USD 120 mln.

Opportunities for cooperation STATE COMMITTEE OF THE REPUBLIC OF UZBEKISTAN ON GEOLOGY AND MINERAL RESOURCES Opportunities for cooperation There are also medium size investment proposals for development of such minerals, as tungsten, manganese, vollastonite, talc, basalt, graphite, alunite ores, bentonite and other

Favorable investment climate STATE COMMITTEE OF THE REPUBLIC OF UZBEKISTAN ON GEOLOGY AND MINERAL RESOURCES HAVING, Favorable investment climate Diversified mining and processing industry Developed infrastructure Highly qualified local manpower Low cost energy resources AND, Rich mineral resources, Uzbekistan is a unique destination for cooperation and investments.
