Cultural Competency The success of the Archie Roach Leadership Academy has been phenomenal. Community Manager together with students and Elders have been invited to attend Cultural Competency training in NSW, delivered at a national level. Upon completion, students return to their communities and are able to deliver an aboriginal point view of cultural competence to schools, communities and organisations and how it relates and benefits all people. Be confident to tell the story in a positive narrative with consistency and trust.

Outcomes Schooling Work Experience Paid Work 100% of school-aged 2016 Academy participants are still in school, with school attendance rates remaining consistently high Work Experience Opportunity for students to choose from numerous career paths with our Partner Organisations Paid Work Students are afforded the opportunity of paid work with for up to three months with Anglicare Victoria and our Partner Organisations

Quotes From our students: “D” – the past week has been really eye opening and very busy, but exciting as we got to do things that we may not normally do and got to experience new things… I would definitely be taking up the opportunity to return to Melbourne to take up paid work experience. My wildest dreams cannot imagine this is actually happening to me. “K” – It’s been really good, it was my first time seeing the opera. I’m doing building and I play a bit of footy. I like sport. It’s my first time doing the Long Walk…
