What is Google Chrome? Chrome is a browser that is created by Google and runs on both Windows and Mac computer platforms Retains your settings and webpages Apps and Extensions Available tools that bring extra functionality to Chrome for accessibility and accommodations.

What are Google Chrome Apps? As known as G- Suite A large suite of powerful applications that run inside of your Chrome Web Browser, instead of being installed on your hard drive. All web-based Many of the apps have transferability features to Microsoft Products (Word, Powerpoint, Excel) G Suite is offers a free service to schools, provides google accounts to students and teachers Differences between Chrome Apps and Google Apps To sum it up, Google Apps, when it overlaps with the services found on Chrome Apps, serves as a back end while Chrome Apps as a front end. This is an explicit distinction of functionality as opposed to the perceived similarities when accessing Google Apps directly without the intervention of similar Apps on Chrome Apps.
FIPPA (Freedom of Information and Privacy Protection Act of BC) -frames the conditions under which a ‘Public Body’ can collect, use and discloses personal information Why is this important? To access and retain app/extensions like Read & Write you need a Google ID. Google is a cloud service which typically stores outside of Canada Cloud Services can potentially share personal information If you are going to use of this tool (with students or for school purposes)– you need know the policies in place in your district

How to add Chrome Extensions Go to the Chrome Web Store Select the extension you want Click Add to Chrome Some extensions will list the data that the extension will be able to access Click Add to grant permission for the extension access to your data and install When your extensions are active they should appear in the right hand corner at the top
