ACSP Presents FSA Night Welcome!

Florida’s K-12 assessment system measures students’ achievement of Florida’s education standards, which were developed and implemented to ensure that all students graduate from high school ready for success in college, career, and life. Assessment supports instruction and student learning, and test results help Florida’s educational leadership and stakeholders determine whether the goals of the education system are being met. What is the FSA?

Students in grades 3-5 will participate in FSA ELA assessments. All students will participate in ELA Reading. Students in grades enrolled in grades 4 & 5 will also participate in ELA Writing. Students enrolled in grades 3-5 will participate in FSA Mathematics assessment. Who will take the FSA?

Will my student receive any accommodation? Students having up-to-date IEPs and Section 504 plans receive the accommodations that are indicated on the current IEP or 504 plan for state-wide assessments. Will my student receive any accommodation?

Science FCAT (5th Grade only) The Statewide Science Assessment is administered as a paper- based test (PBT). Test materials for paper-based accommodations (large print, braille, one-item-per-page) are available for students whose IEPs or 504 plans indicate these accommodations. The Statewide Science Assessment is administered in two 80- minute sessions with a stretch break in the middle of each session. Grade 5 Science is administered over two days. Sample questions and answer key books for students taking the Statewide Science Assessment are available for student use on the FLDOE Statewide Science Assessment page. Science FCAT (5th Grade only)

3rd Grade Reading Portfolio The Grade 3 Reading Student Portfolio, mandated by the FLDOE, is the first assessment administered and it will begin tomorrow, February 9, 2017. This portfolio contains a variety of assessments that provide important information regarding each student’s proficiency of the standards assessed on the FSA-English Language Arts. The passages in the portfolio will be administered on a weekly basis. 3rd Grade Reading Portfolio

I-Ready will be another pathway used in order for a student’s promotion to grade 4. Students will need a minimum score of 535 on the Reading portion of I-Ready for the 3rd Diagnostic, which will be administered in May.
