We are Cavalier Robotics, Team 619, the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team for Charlottesville/Albemarle and surrounding counties. We are a team of high school students and adult mentors celebrating science and technology in Central Virginia. We strive to promote the values of FIRST: leadership, responsibility, accountability, self confidence, and team work, as well as practical hands on engineering, through the building of competition robots. CARobotics (Cavalier Robotics) is a 501(c)(3) organization located in Charlottesville, VA."

FIRST® (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit public charity founded in 1989 to inspire young people's interest and participation in science and technology. The FIRST mission is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.

For our students, participation in CARobotics offers direct, hands-on experience in STEM related activities, construction, engineering, design, electronics, and programming. Students also develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills, learn teamwork, project management, and collaboration. Students also participate in fundraising and outreach efforts, including mentoring FIRST Tech Challenge teams and the robotics portion of the UVA Tech Camps, demos at the Boy Scout Camporee and various commercial locations and schools. Since 2001 Team 619 has successfully participated annually in FIRST Regional Competitions in Richmond, Myrtle Beach, and Washington, D.C.

Our students come from High Schools throughout the region: Albemarle, Western Albemarle, Monticello, and Charlottesville High Schools; St. Anne’s Belfield, and students who are home schooled. Post their experiences on the Cavalier Robotics team, our students have entered colleges and universities such as University of Virginia, MIT, Tufts, Stanford, UC Berkley, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Virginia Polytechnic and State University, University of West Virginia, and many more. Over the past three years, 93% of our graduating students have entered college to pursue a STEM-related course of study.
