ICD-10 General Awareness MU Health Care

What is ICD-10 ? ICD-10 is a diagnostic coding system implemented by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1993 to replace ICD-9, which was developed by WHO in the 1970s. In the US, ICD-10 has two designations: ICD-10-CM - clinical modification (diagnoses) ICD-10-PCS – procedural coding system

When will ICD-10 be implemented ? The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) issued a rule finalizing Oct. 1, 2015, as the new compliance date for health care providers, health plans, and health care clearinghouses to transition to ICD-10, the tenth revision of the International Classification of Diseases.
