Meaning of the Ethiopia’s flag Ethiopia’s flag has many colors. Green, yellow, red, and some other color like sky blue. And there is a star, too. I’ll explain about each of them. Green : The wealth of natural Yellow : The freedom of the religion Red : The victim for the homeland And the star means the unification of the country and nations. Also, the sky blue means the peace, and the cut star means the equality of nations and religions. For references, the ratio of the flag is 1 : 2.
Ethiopia’s history According to the history of Ethiopia, Solomon’s son went to Israel to find his father. His name was Menenik. And when he went back to his mother’s country, Solomon loved his son, so he gave his son three things to go close to god. And the son went to the Aksum area and set up the country. This kingdom grew up, and they dominated the Africa northeast and Mideast area. Like this, the kingdom was kept for thousand of years, before the last king leaved in 1974 by a coup d’etat. Anyway, it is amazing that one kingdom continued for 3000years.
Ethiopia’s culture Ethiopia uses the Geez letter. Geez letter is the only letter which continued the south america’s descent. Normally, it is a syllable letter. And they use both the Gregorian calendar and the Ethiopian calendar. Ethiopians drink coffee called ‘Bunna’ and live in the house called ‘sharbet’. They also wear their traditional clothes. Actually, Bunna is the most famous thing of Ethiopia. Ethiopians enjoy their festivals. The best festival of Ethiopia is ‘Timkat’. And other famous festivals are Meskel and Kulubi Gabriel.
Ethiopia’s religion Ethiopia’s state religion is Christian. But the other religions are Muslim, Orthodox, Protestantism, and others are Roman Catholicism, Buddhism, Hinduism, etc… <The percentage of the believers> Muslim : 50% Orthodox : 34% Protestantism : 7% Other percentage : 9%
Ethiopia’s natural environment Ethiopia is located in Africa. So you can guess that Ethiopia is hot. Ethiopia’s highland size is 1.1 million 4000 killometers, and it’s two thirds of the country’s territory. The annual precipitation is more than 1,020mm. The mean air temperature is 22, and the lower part’s temperature is 16. The highland parts two big territories. Anyway, Ethiopia has many rivers. There are Tana in the northwest and Ziwaio, Yabayahho in the south. And last, In Ethiopia, there are many animals like giraffe, monkey, and there is a shrub of the coffee tree, too.
