Snapchat is an immensely popular instant messaging platform that allows its users to interact via chat and self-destructing video and photo messages. Used on mobile devices across all platforms Launched September 2011 - Snapchat has shown incredible growth. Now boasts over 150 million daily active users and 7 billion video views daily.

What do you need? Mobile device – smartphone or tablet The Snapchat App User Account with password

What are Snaps? Snaps are Photos/Videos that are sent to other Snap users. PHOTO - taken directly with their device VIDEO - also taken with their device but cannot be longer than 10 seconds in length Snaps are then viewed by your SNAP friends. Each SNAP can last a specific amount of seconds. Maximum view time is 10 seconds. Unopened Snaps last 30 days. Once Snap is open is cannot be seen again. There are some exceptions.

What are Stories? Stories: The Stories section of Snapchat showcases photos and videos that you’d like to share with all your Snapchat friends. Stories – will remain on your Snap account for your friends to view at anytime for up to 24 hours. To view your Story and your friends’ Stories, swipe left from the Snapchat app’s camera screen.

Additional features Lenses – funny or goofy animations that are overlaid on top of your selfie Filters - enhance your content with filters B/W – Sepia etc Stickers – added to photos Take Screenshot of a Snap – You can take a screenshot but sender is notified Memories – saving your own Snaps Discover – following trending Snaps SnapKidz - a modified version - available for children younger than 13.
