Listen to the arrangement of “Jeanie” and identify musical phrases. As you listen, write down the words in the lyrics that indicate where there are pauses or breathing breaks. Do you agree that these are the best places for pauses to occur? Listen to the arrangement again. Next to each phrase-ending word, label the type of cadence. Write full cadence if there is the sound of the V7-I resolution. Write half cadence if there is a hesitation on the V7 chord that wants to be resolved. (Hint: the first cadence on the word hair is a full cadence)
