Need for AMP’D Experience United State Department of Education’s Teacher Shortage Areas Nationwide Listing Since 2008, Agriculture has been listed as an area of teacher shortage in California Industrial Technology joined the list in 2010 as an area of teacher need. California Agricultural Education Job Data In 2014, there were 110 open agriculture teaching positions; 36 advertised as agricultural mechanics Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo Produced 12 newly credentialed agriculture teachers during 2015-16 school year; 1 had an extensive agricultural mechanics background

Participant Profile Entering their Junior or Senior year of high school (Currently Sophomore or Junior) Current Seniors may apply, but are not guaranteed a place in the camp. Priority will go to students entering their Junior of Senior year of high school Have completed at least 2 years of agricultural mechanics instruction with a grade of “B” or better (high school or community college courses) Possess traits (caring, organized, self-starter, trustworthy) which you believe to be suited for a career in agricultural education Be able to attend the camp for the duration

Conference Housing Students will be housed in Yosemite dormitories and monitored by chaperones Presenters will be housed at Poly Canyon Village dormitories Most will be provided by Cal Poly campus dining

Final Project Agricultural construction of 4’x4’x8’ foot garden shed Conducted in camp teams Will be judged on final day Overall winning team will be selected Sheds will go back to community
