Application Systems Health Assessment Summary EXAMPLE
Application Systems Assessment Introduction The purpose of the Legal Application Systems Assessment was to evaluate the key characteristics of key IT application systems used by the Legal Division. It is important to identify the positive and — if necessary — negative aspects of current systems in relation to the strategy of the business and how well they contribute to the operational success of the Division. The basis for this assessment was the Application Systems “Health Check” evaluation process from Gartner, one of the leading research firms in the Information Technology industry. The process evaluated each Legal application system based on characteristics of performance in the following areas: Business Business Process Support Business Value Data and Information Quality/Timeliness Business Robustness Life Cycle Position

Application Systems Assessment (cont’d) A summary of the Application System assessment is provided below reflecting the overall “health” or fitness of each application to support the Legal business. It is the combined score of three performance indices related to business, operational, and technical areas. An overall score of 36 to 42 is good. In general, the application is performing well and adequately supports Legal. A score of 31 to 35 indicates the application fitness is fair. Key areas need attention to bring it back into alignment with business, operational or technical standards and requirements. A score of 30 or less indicates some serious issues with the application which should be evaluated in more detail to determine corrective action. Detailed assessment scores by application are provided on the following pages.
