Novice Liaison Teresa Stonelake "Only the guy who isn't rowing has time to rock the boat.” -- Jean-Paul Sartre

Administration Regan Burmeister “It is hard to make the boat go as fast as you want to. The enemy of course, is resistance of the water, as you have to displace the amount of water equal to the weight of the men and equipment, but that very water is what supports you and that very enemy is your friend. So is life: the very problems you must overcome also support you and make you stronger in overcoming them.” -- George Yeoman Pocock

Requirements for Fall Program Have to be a Freshman or above – no Middle School Have to have completed ALL the following FCPS sports physical (turned in to WSHS Activities Office) FCPS emergency care form Complete a swim test (Sep 24th, 2 – 3 PM, South Run Recreation Center) View the US Rowing Safety video (first day of Fall Rowing) Online concussion training (rower and one parent/guardian) Requirements and information can be found online at www.spartancrew.org under the "Join Us" link Forms can be turned in on Sep 24th at swim test, or Oct 3d at Fall Rowing Forms Night Or scan and email to admin@spartancrew.org

Virginia High School League (VHSL) Physical Use the April 2016 VHSL physical (earlier versions not acceptable). An entry physical (required if you are new to FFX County schools) is not a valid VHSL physical. Every page gets signed, at least once, and dated Every page has to be filled out – starting with the Rower’s name Page 1: Filled out, signed, and dated by rower Page 2: Filled out, signed, and dated by parent and rower Page 3: Fill out the top – don’t assume the physician is going to do this. Ensure he/she checks ‘cleared’ for rowing – if cleared with limitations, rower isn’t cleared. Ensure the physician signs, dates, and either provides a stamp or prints: name, medical degree, address, phone number. If any of this is missing or is illegible, the physical gets returned. Page 4: Fill out, remember to provide the insurance information, note the parent must sign/date twice. TURN IN TO WSHS ATHLETIC TRAINER Note – it takes them 2 weeks sometimes to update their list so get it in early!
