What is Pokémon Go? Most popular mobile game in history Creators avg $1.6 million revenue per day 12% of Android Devices More daily activity than Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram GPS-Going Geo-loco (Stops & Gyms) A/R- It’s a whole new reality (Sort of) Cracker Jack Gamification (The NEXT generation) What is Pokémon Go? Niantic Labs invested launched July 6th it has since become the most popular mobile game in history. Who is currently playing, has friends or family or at least downloaded the app? Type in chat box PG has been downloaded on more than 12% of android devices almost as many Iphones and has surpassed activity of Tinder, Twitter, Snapchat Ect. Obviously, kids are not the only ones playing. It’s a worldwide craze. Pokemon is based on the popular franchise of the 1990’s , which includes a card game, TV series, movies, and products where players find and collect little pocket monsters or Pokémons . The game uses a phone’s GPS to track movements, as you walk (the trainer) down Main Street, you interact with virtual maps of the real world and try to catch “Wild Pokémons” . Players search for tools , battle foes, heal themselves, level up, join teams, and eventually try to “catch them all.” Items and monsters are found by visiting actual landmarks , known as Pokéstops. In addition, battles between players take place at “gyms,” which are also real physical locations. (You might be sitting in one right now!) Businesses lucky enough to be close to Poke stops and gyms are where many of the best opportunities exist but there’s much more on the horizon. The App is built on several crucial technologies you should be also aware of these are Geolocation, Augmented Reality, and Gamification So let’s look at why you should care about the game , the technology involved , and what it means for business?

McDonalds in Japan becomes 1st paid sponsor location These are just a few examples of folks cashing in on the game Eater E-zine rounded up several other restaurants Everyday I’m hearing more success stories and innovative ideas business owners are hatching. There's no timetable when to expect sponsored locations to start populating the game's map. Niantic told the Times to expect an announcement "soon." It’s a move that worked well for Ingress, Niantic’s earlier AR game and Pokémon Go predecessor. In Ingress, well-known places like Jamba Juice, Zipcar and others became noted locations within the game. Companies paid Niantic to become sponsors of the game in exchange for more foot traffic.
