Paul’s Prayer For The Colossians Why Is Being Filled with Such Knowledge So Important? Lack of knowledge always a problem - cf. Hosea 4:6 It is essential to our renewal in becoming like Christ - Colossians 3:8-10

Matthew 25:37-40; James 1:27 Are we being fruitful?

Paul’s Prayer For The Colossians Conduct “Worthy of the Lord, Fully Pleasing Him,” Is One in Which We Are: “Increasing in the knowledge of God” We need to grow in the knowledge of God HIMSELF, not just His will - cf. Jeremiah 9:23-24; cf. 2 Timothy 1:12; 1 John 2:3-4

Paul’s Prayer For The Colossians How can one truly know God? Through CREATION - Psalms 19:1; Romans 1:18-20 Through inspired REVELATION (cf. the Psalms and the prophets) Through JESUS - John 14:7-9; Colossians 2:9 Are we daily increasing in this knowledge of God?

(11) “Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power” NKJV (cf. 2 Timothy 1:7-8) Paul often wrote about God’s “glorious power.” He experienced it in his own life - Philippians 4:13 He wanted others to know about it - Ephesians 1:15-20 He identified it with the working of the Spirit in the inner man - Ephesians 3:16 He describes its greatness. - Ephesians 3:20

Paul’s Prayer For The Colossians What is the purpose of such power? “for all PATIENCE and LONGSUFFERING with JOY” - cf. Galatians 5:22-23) Are we experiencing this strength which God gives to those who do His will?

God has “made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light” – cf. 1 Peter 1:3-5 God has “delivered us from the power of darkness” - cf. Ephesians 2:1-5 God has “translated us into the kingdom of the Son of His love” In Whom we have “redemption through His blood” In Whom we have “the forgiveness of sins” - cf. Revelation1:5-6 Are we thankful?

Colossians 1:9-14, “For this cause we also, since the day we heard (it), do not cease to pray and make request for you, that ye may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, to walk worthily of the Lord unto all pleasing, bearing fruit in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all power, according to the might of his glory, unto all patience and longsuffering with joy; giving thanks unto the Father, who made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light; who delivered us out of the power of darkness, and translated us into the kingdom of the Son of his love; in whom we have our redemption, the forgiveness of our sins.”
