Percent Change The ratio of the amount of change to the original amount expressed as a percent. If a new amount is greater than the original amount, the percent change is called a Percent increase: the percent change found when the original amount increases. If the new amount is less than the original amount, the percent change is called a Percent decrease: the percent change found when the original amount decreases.
