What is the Master Gardener Program? Concept originated in Washington State in 1972 by a county extension office Purpose was to recruit and train gardeners to assist them with home gardening questions From the original 120 gardeners trained in 1973, we now have over 94,865 across the country Tennessee has about 2,000 active Master Gardeners in 46 counties Shelby County has 403 active MGs
