Missouri Department of Revenue Presents Get Legal

Get Legal 2010 statistics from the Missouri State Highway Patrol indicated that over 11,000 citations were issued relating to license violations. In fiscal year 2012, the Department added 274,910 suspension and revocations to drivers’ records. Get Legal? Designed to determine if additional outreach would increase reinstatements.

Get Legal Criteria for The Chosen Ones Control Group – same criteria Eligible to reinstate for a minimum of one year Individual must have at least one active suspension, revocation or denial action Find one in every county Control Group – same criteria Swept driver license records for 7,250 individuals who had been eligible for reinstatement for a minimum period of one year. Those individuals were mailed a standardized letter in early Jan 2012. An identical control group was identified to assist in determining the success of the pilot.

Get Legal Recidivism rate Notified Group: Control Group: Single suspension or revocation – 18 Multiple suspensions or revocations – 16 Control Group: Single suspension or revocation – 16 Multiple suspensions or revocations – 9 Recidivism Rate = those who reinstated by may 31, 2012, and have since lost their driving privilege.
