The centre of government in the City of London, the Guildhall, houses 7 separate events spaces available for daytime or evening hire separately or as a whole. Depending on what kind of event you’re organizing choose between: The Great Hall East & West Crypts The Guildhall Art Gallery and Basinghall Suite The Livery Hall The Old Library and Print Room Introduction If you think Guildhall is a perfect venue for your next event please contact Guildhall directly on guildhall.events@cityoflondon.gov.uk or call 020 7332 1313. For catering please contact Party Ingredients directly on sales@partyingredients.co.uk or call 020 7517 3500 – Party Ingredients can cater for any kind of event, from conferences, dinners to receptions.

The Great Hall Originally built in 1411, the medieval Great Hall is the largest room, perfect for grand receptions, conferences and lectures. Each of the Romanesque windows in the side walls contain the names of previous Lord Mayors of London above chevrons interspersed with monograms of reigning monarchs in the middle, starting with the first Lord Mayor of London Henry Fitz Ailwyn in 1189 during the reign of King Richard I. This most impressive hall has several splendid monuments to national heroes, including Admiral Lord Nelson, the Duke of Wellington, Chatham, Lord Mayor Beckford, William Pitt, and most recently Sir Winston Churchill.

East & West Crypts The Crypts lie beneath the Great Hall and are the largest survival medieval Crypts in London, available for dinners or receptions with a maximum capacity of 500. The East Crypt is the oldest part of Guildhall, dating back to Edward the Confessor (1042) and is considered to be one of the earliest and one of the finest examples of its kind in England. The stained glass windows depict Geoffrey Chaucer, William Caxton, Sir Thomas More, Sir Christopher Wren and Samuel Pepys. The West Crypt was completely sealed off following the Great Fire in 1666 and then reopened after restoration in 1973.

The Guildhall Art Gallery and Basinghall Suite A recent addition to the Guildhall, the Guildhall Art Gallery, opened by Her Majesty The Queen offers a magnificent space for evening receptions. Take your guests for a private tour of the masterpieces displayed in the Guildhall Art Gallery. The Basinghall Suite is the smallest space in the Guildhall, available for small conferences or meetings. There is a small ante room which can be used for additional elements such as a catering space, Green Room or press facility.

The Livery Hall Recently refurbished Livery Hall makes an excellent conference venue with its in-built screen and projector. Kitchen facilities are located next to the main room, perfect for providing pre-conference breakfast or refreshments.

To the north of the room is a magnificent stained glass window depicting William Caxton. The Print Room is an additional room included within the hire of the Old Library and can be used for either VIP reception or a Green Room.
