JOURNAL #7.2 After watching Act I, sc. ii, give me your thoughts about: What kind of man is Hamlet? How would you describe/characterize him? What kind of man is Claudius? How would you describe/characterize him? What kind of woman is Gertrude? How would you describe/characterize her? How do you think they feel about each other? What are their relationships like?

Journal #7.2, cont’d. After watching Act I, sc. iii, give me your thoughts about: What kind of man is Polonius? How would you describe/characterize him? What kind of man is Laertes? How would you describe/characterize him? What kind of woman is Ophelia? How would you describe/characterize her? How do you think they feel about each other? What are their relationships like?

JOURNAL #7.2, CONT’D. Act I, scene iii is all about the giving and receiving of advice. Which pieces of advice still feel relevant today? Which pieces of advice seem as if they will be significant to the play? Explain.

JOURNAL #8.1 Where do you see the ideas of Revenge and Justice in Act I? Provide specific examples of actions to support your answer.

Journal #8.1, cont’d. What problems revealed to us in the first Act of Hamlet will clearly need to be resolved by the end of the play? A bullet-point list is fine here.
