The Mission of the Police The Mission of the Police The police’s mission is: “To make places safer and to cut crime and the fear of it and to uphold the law.” How they achieve their mission… The police achieve this by patrolling the streets on a regular basis and by doing simple role and activities to prevent anti-social behaviour such as confiscating alcohol from underage youths. This will also include their day to day duties such as patrolling the streets which involves: patrolling the streets as part of a daily routine and tackle any antisocial behaviour that is spotted, also to give anyone who needs advice to give it to them and to treat them with respect.

Unit 2: Employment... The Vision of the Police The police’s vision is: “To ensure that all police authorities make their areas the safest areas in the world.” How they achieve their vision… The police do this by having officers patrolling their assigned areas. This can be done in cars, by air, on bikes and on foot. Officers work with PCSOs to patrol the streets 24hours a day, 7 days a week, preventing antisocial behaviour and being a physical presence making local residents feel safe and therefore preventing crime.

The Values of the Police The Values of the Police The police values are: “To treat everyone fairly, to be open and honest, to work in partnership and to change to improve.” How they achieve their vision… The police achieve this by working with the crown prosecution service. They collect evidence and case facts to enable them to charge suspects with crimes. The information and evidence collected is then passed to the CPS. The evidence and statements bust be honest and truthful if a charge is to be upheld in court. The police are also open and honest. Each police force has to submit their crime figures. These are accessible to the public. They produce data and figures on crimes such as house burglaries and criminal damage. The police have to treat everyone the same which means no one is discriminated against and they have to follow a phrase “innocent until proven guilty” which means a full investigation of the crime scene must be carried out before assuming who is innocent and who’s guilty.
