The Effects of Poor oral Hygiene DO YOU KNOW WHAT DENTAL PLAQUE IS? The Effects of Poor oral Hygiene

Dental plaque is a biofilm, usually a pale yellow, that develops naturally on the teeth. Like any biofilm, dental plaque is formed by colonizing bacteria trying to attach themselves to the tooth's smooth surface.

This biofilm will be the main factor to cause cavities. To prevent it: 1. Have good oral self care Brush 2 times a day Floss at least once a day 2. Visit your dental hygienist regularly – as recommended.
