Classroom Expectations/Targets

Can you guess what our new topic focus for this term is… We are going to use the software Microsoft Excel to create and use Spreadsheets.

We.Are.Learning.Today Objectives Aims To learn the basic knowledge of the software Microsoft Excel To understand the different types of formulae's and functions which can be used to work out mathematical calculations of data on a spreadsheet. Aims Pupils will be able to workout different mathematical calculations on an existing spreadsheet using a range of formula methods. Pupils will be able to add up a range of numbers using the sum function. Pupils will also be able to format cells to currency and they will also be able to change the colours, font size and add gridlines to improve the presentations of different spreadsheets.

Key Words Cell Reference Range Data Symbols Formulas Sum Function

Cabot Circus Market needs your help Cabot Circus Market needs your help! You need to complete Task 1 worksheet. In this task you will develop your confidence to use a range of formulas to workout different mathematical calculations on an existing spreadsheet. You have 20mins to complete this task. Good Luck!

Blackpool Pleasure Beach needs your help Blackpool Pleasure Beach needs your help! You need to complete Task 2 worksheet. In this task you will develop your confidence using the same formulas used to complete task 1 to workout the total cost each customer will have to pay to go on rides at the fair. You will also learn how to use a sum function to find out the total cost the park has made during the day. Remember Literacy – Capital Letters and Spelling Numeracy – Currency You have 35mins to complete this task. Good Luck!

Success Criteria Gold: They will be able to workout using different formula methods all additional, subtraction, multiplication and division mathematical calculations on an existing spreadsheet and they will have also created and found their own calculations. They will have also been able to format cells to currency, change the colour and font size, and will have used borders. They will have completed task 1 and 2. Silver: They will be able to workout using different formula methods all additional, subtraction, multiplication and division mathematical calculations on an existing spreadsheet, and they will have also created and found their own calculations. They will have completed task 1. Bronze: They will be able to workout using different formula methods some additional, subtraction, multiplication and division mathematical calculations on an existing spreadsheet. They will have completed most of task 1.

Can you identify three things you have learnt today? Plenary Mr Foster held a charity event to raise money for Cancer Research and has created a spreadsheet to workout different calculations. Explain how Mr Foster could use a spreadsheet model. Do you agree that all businesses should use electronic spreadsheets to hold important information? Can you identify three things you have learnt today?
