Character Description A Family Learning Activity Year 3 'Pick and Mix' Homework This 'Pick and Mix' homework is for the whole half term. Red boxes need to be completed regularly each week. Yellow boxes must be done at some point during the half term. Challenge yourself to the green box activities. These do not have to be done, but if you want to push yourself, that would be super! Reading Please try to read your home reader for 10 minutes at least 5 times per week. Character Description Write a detailed description of a character from your favourite book. Perhaps you could draw a picture too! The Empty Box! You can do anything you like; a presentation on something that interests you; write about something you have done - the choice is yours... Learn a Poem Find a favourite poem and learn it. You can recite your poem to any of the adults at school, or even perform it to the whole class. Research and create tribal jewellery – what materials would they use? Can you make something similar? How about using bits of recycling to do it? Research fruits that are grown in the Amazon rainforest & write a recipe for a fruit salad. A Family Learning Activity Go for a walk in the park or your garden with an adult and look for different plants. Take photographs, draw pictures or write about things you see. Comprehension Please complete the First News comprehension sheet in your folder each week. Talk about... The story of Fantastic Mr Fox! Can you tell someone what the story is about? What has happened so far? What are the characters like? Write a poem about plants or flowers. Try to use alliteration and similes. Find out about plants that grow in the UK. Can you also find out what plants will grow in a hot country (e.g. Egypt) or a really cold country (e.g. Antarctica)? Draw or paint a picture of a plant/flower. Think about the details! Remember: Draw what you see and focus on the shape and colour of the plant/flower. Create a poster or information page about a specific plant. Choose a plant of your choice! Time Practice telling the time. Can you challenge yourself by looking at 5 minute intervals? Number Facts Complete the mental maths sheet in your folder each week, Please tick and initial the activities your child has completed.
