Developing Innovative Solutions with Communities to Overcome Vulnerability through Enhanced Resilience (DISCOVER)

Districts Balaka- CU Dedza- CU Karonga- Self Help Africa and partners Nsanje- Goal Salima- COOPI Each NGO implementing in a district where they have existing programmes and established Presence.

Outreach 17 TAs 104 VDCs/GVH 298,500 direct beneficiaries/households 604,300 indirect beneficiaries GBP 8.7m budget 59 months- August 2011 to June 2016

Project result areas Capacity of local authorities, communities and individuals to address and mitigate the impacts of climate change strengthened.. Increased and diversified crop and livestock production, sustainable and adaptive agriculture technologies and improved dietary diversification. Increased community and individual capacity to sustainably manage natural resources and mitigate the effects of climate change

Project result areas Increased household income and diversified livelihood options through enhanced entrepreneurship and access to finance. Strengthened information sharing, improved coordination and increased advocacy, learning, dissemination and awareness among stakeholders on climate change adaptation.

Implementation approach This is a Climate Change adaption project Focusing on generating household and community impacts District and community based project Work with all relevant gov. Departments at district level using existing district relationships Engage with national stakeholders at various levels appropriately.

Implementation approach Project to be implemented in the context of the national agenda on Climate Change. The project to be linked to other Climate Change initiatives being supported by other development partners in Malawi.
