Why are we staying on HMS Belfast? To further develop their independence. To extend the children’s experiences of a residential event by staying further away from home but only for 1 night.

Where will we be staying? The children will sleep on HMS Belfast which is permanently moored in the Thames near to Tower Bridge.

What will the children be doing? Once we have dropped our luggage off on HMS Belfast we will be walking along the south Bank to London Bridge and to the Monument. The children will have the opportunity to climb the Monument.

What will the children be doing? We will then walk along the river towards The Tower of London, round St Katherine’s dock and to Tower Bridge. We will then visit Tower Bridge museum including visiting the engine rooms.

What will the children be doing? From Tower Bridge we will walk back to HMS Belfast where the children will have the opportunity to explore the ship before going to the mess deck for our sleepover.

Approximate Timetable 9.00am Children leave by coach 10.30am Arrive at HMS Belfast and drop off luggage 11.00am Start walking to the Monument 11.30am Climb Monument 12.30pm Walk along the river 1.00pm Lunch near The Tower of London 2.30pm Tower Bridge Museum

Food Day 1 Lunch – Please bring a packed lunch but no fizzy drink or glass bottle. Day 1 Dinner – Take away Pizza on HMS Belfast There are no cooking facilities available to us on HMS Belfast. Day 2 Breakfast – continental style breakfast provided by HMS Belfast Day 2 lunch – packed lunch provided.

Kit List – to be packed in a small backpack/bag Sleeping bag Pillow case Night clothes Change of clothes Clean socks and underwear Walking shoes/trainers Indoor shoes Waterproof coat/sun cream Wash bag including soap, toothbrush and toothpaste Small towel Hair brush and hair bands Teddy bear Water bottle Small back pack for carrying lunch and water bottle.

Kit List Any medicines/inhalers (in a separate named bag to be given to an adult on arrival at school) Please pack all items in a small back pack or holdall. The children will need to be able to carry it down the ladder to the mess deck. Children do not need to bring school uniform Do not bring any electronic games or mobile phones. Please bring a packed lunch for day 1 (no fizzy drink or glass bottle

Medical form You will need to complete a medical form for your child. You and your child will also need to sign a behaviour form.

Date for each class 4A 27th – 28th April 4B 28th – 29th April 4C 29th – 30th April There will be at least 4 members of staff sleeping on HMS Belfast each night and more adults with each class around London during the day.
