pasteurization Student: Louis Pasteur Department of Biological Science GENERAL PROJECT DESCRIPTION Use this area to describe the overall goal of the project. My tasks as a UROP student Use this area to describe the tasks you were given by your supervisor. You may wish to use a bullet list, as shown below: This project aims to establish a process by which heat can be used on a liquid or a food to kill pathogenic bacteria to make the food safe to eat. Clean and prepare all equipment for lab work Select suitable material for first experiment Perform first experiment on sample 1 Write up results of first experiment Present summary of results and suggested improvements for next sample, etc. This will help to reduce the transmission of diseases, such as typhoid fever and tuberculosis, Research skills Use this area to reflect on the specific research skills which you have gained in the tasks you have completed. Remember that many of these skills may be transferable to other areas: Design pilot experiment Critique literature Report the findings Prepare experiment equipment Analyse data Run pilot experiment Soft skills or other transferable skills Use this area to reflect on other skills which you have gained in the tasks you have completed: Interview skills Time-management Preparing & delivering a presentation Working in a team Working independently Communication skills Networking What did you like best about your UROP placement and/or how will you use these skills? Use this area to tell us (and a future UROP student) what is so good about this scheme and perhaps how you will use your new skills
