Colorado State Symbols State Bird: Lark Bunting inhabit areas up to 8,000 feet in elevation. State Tree: Colorado Blue Spruce is an evergreen, has fruit in its cone, and its branches appear layered. State Fossil: Stegosaurus were in Colorado 150,000,000 years ago. State Fish: Greenback Cutthroat Trout is the state fish, but from 1954-1995 the state fish was the Rainbow Trout. State Flower: Rocky Mountain Columbine cannot be dug up because of laws.

Colorful Colorado’s Points of Interest National Parks Rocky Mountain National Park is amateur geographer’s dream, and 2015 was its 100th anniversary. Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park has perfect views of a 53 mile long gorge. Mesa Verde National Park has Anasazi Cliff Dwellings that people could go inside. Places to Visit Pikes Peak is one of the most famous mountains in the Rockies and had a gold rush. U.S. Mint in Denver produces money and millions of coins. Annual Events The Food and Wine Festival is where many celebrity chefs gather together to have almost every food and wine imaginable. The Parade of Lights is where a variety of floats are shown.

Other Interesting Information Famous People Scott Carpenter was one of the first astronauts in space, and he orbited Earth three times in a spacecraft called Mercury. Lon Chaney Sr. acted in classic horror films such as The Hunchback of Notre Dame and The Phantom of the Opera, and he was also known as the man of a thousand faces. Margaret Molly Brown went on the Titanic as a first class woman by mining silver, and others made a movie about her called “The Unsinkable Molly Brown”. Information on Denver Denver Broncos won Super Bowl Titles back to back in 1998-1999 and again in 2016. Denver Omelette is supposed to be the mixing of cultures. State Food The Cinnamon Roll has its own day January 8th. Additional Interesting Places to Visit Dinosaur Museum is a national monument that has dinosaur bones in rocks. Garden of Gods is a beautiful place that took millions of years to be formed by wind and rain. The Museum of Western Art has over 125 paintings and sculptures.
